Patrick Klazer scored twice and Nolan Brett continued his hot weekend with a beautiful goal while adding 2 assists as the Navy Vets outlasted the Norwich Merchants in a classic Hwy59 rivalry matchup on Monday afternoon before a large Family Day crowd.
Mack Easter also chipped in a goal and 2 assists.
League-leading scorer Kyle Baker was held pointless for only the 4th time this season.
903 fans watched the hotly contested game that was back and forth until Griffin Sinden scored what proved to be the winner early in the 3rd period to open a Vets 5-3 lead.
The Vets had to hang on when the Merchants buzzed the net with an extra attacker in the final moments after Jack Gee had made the game close with a late goal.
Keaghen Brett made 25 saves to record his division-leading 14th win of the season.
