Vets celebrate 2000th game !!

The Navy Vets celebrated their 2000th Regular Season Game with 3 men who played in the very 1st game back on Oct.23, 1966.
The Vets won 10-2 in Ingersoll that night and won big again on this night 8-3 over Hespeler.
Original Navy Vets Don Izzard Jr., Gene McLaren, and Scott Seagrist were on hand for a pre-game ceremony …
taking time before the ceremony to greet the current team in the dressing room and wish them well.

Then the players stepped on the ice and Liam VanBradt scored just 2.41 into the game to send a barrage of bears and pjs down on the ice as it was also the annual Teddy Bear & Pyjama Toss.
Hespeler played tough in that first period and had the lead until Davin Gray scored with under a minute left to send the game to the middle frame tied at 2-2.
The Vets then took charge and blew the game open with 3 goals in the 2nd period and 3 more in the 3rd to take the victory.
VanBradt and Gray and Jordan Thomson each had 2 goals with VanBradt also adding 2 assists to his totals. Tommy Zufelt and Patrick Holloway scored the other Vets goals.
Tyler Bouck played his 3rd straight game since being acquired and made 35 saves.
The Navy Vets remain in 5th place with a 10-9-0-1 record 4 points back of Norwich and just 5 points back of Tavistock … but the Vets and Norwich both have 2 games in hand on the Braves.
The same 2 teams go back at it again on Saturday night once again at Southwood Arena.
