Navy Vets Weekend Preview – Feb 23

the Navy Vets have only 1 game this weekend to finish their regular season …
the Vets are just 1 point back of 1st place New Hamburg Firebirds in the Doherty Division with a 30-8-3-0 record but New Hamburg has 2 games left this weekend.

It will be the Vets annual Fan Appreciation Night and Overager Ceremony at Southwood Arena on Friday night as they host Hwy 59 rival Tavistock Braves @ 7:45pm … the Braves have won 4 of the 6 previous games between the 2 teams so far this season with 2 of the wins in OT … there will be lots of giveaways to the fans and the Vets will honour 3 overage players who are completing their junior hockey career with the Vets – Tyler Smeda, Ty Crombie, and Mitch Penner … come out and “Pack the Plex” to cheer loud as the Navy Vets try to jump back into top spot with a win and keep their hopes alive for the regular season pennant !!! … we are hoping for another big crowd like on Monday’s Family Day game as we take aim at becoming only the 2nd team in PJHL league history to reach the 14000 attendance mark in a regular season …

Davin Gray of the Vets leads the division in scoring accumulating 63 points on a division-leading 47 assists to go along with 16 goals … Nolan Brett is tied for 2nd place in scoring and will be shooting for 30 goals as he is only 2 short of that with 28 currently …
Tyler Bouck has been one of the top goalies in the division all season and currently is 2nd with 19 wins, 2nd with a 2.45 GAA, and leads the division with both a .926 SV% and 5 SO.

The playoffs will begin next week with the opponent and schedule to be finalized this weekend and announced early next week.
