Former Vets goalie Graeme Noye returned to town and made 29 saves as the New Hamburg Firebirds stopped the Vets record-tying season start record at 9 wins with a 4-3 victory.
Ty Crombie scored twice for the Vets including on a penalty shot.
Nolan Brett scored the other goal assisted by Davin Gray on a faceoff win.
Tyler Bouck made 27 saves in taking his 1st loss of the season.
The Vets still sit in 1st place with 18 points on a 9-1 record … while the Firebirds closed the gap with 16 points on a 8-3 record.
