The Norwich Merchants scored 5 goals in the 3rd period including an empty-netter to snap the Navy Vets 12-game win streak over the last 3 seasons in this “Battle of Hwy 59” series and take the 6-4 win.
Davin Gray led the Navy Vets to a 3-goal outburst in the 2nd period scoring one of the goals and assisting on another as the Vets took a 3-1 lead into the final period.
Jake Phelan, Ethan Szabo, and Jacob McMullen scored the other Vets goals while Liam VanBradt added 2 assists.
Joseph Clark made 28 saves in taking the loss.
The game result means the Vets remain in 5th place with an 8-8 record while the Merchants pull 5 points up on them in 4th … although the Navy Vets have 2 games in hand on all the other teams in the division.
