The Vets remain on top of the Doherty Division with a 21-2-1-0 record and a 6-point lead over New Hamburg but with a game-in-hand.
They travel down the road on Sunday afternoon for the 5th game of the season in the “Battle of Hwy 59” series having won all 4 previous matches against the Norwich Merchants.

SUN:

Navy Vets lost 2-1 in Norwich

The “Battle of Hwy 59” lived up to it’s billing with a robust game between the Navy Vets and rival Norwich Merchants at Nor-Del Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Norwich scored once in the 1st period and once again in the early part of the 3rd period to take a 2-0 lead.
Rhylan Warford scored with just over 3 minutes left for the Vets to set up a wild finish.
The Vets buzzed around the Merchants goal but Norwich goalie Carter Spence held down the fort with a solid performance to hand the Vets only their 3rd regulation loss of the season.
The Navy Vets now hold a 4-point lead on New Hamburg at top of Doherty Division standings with a 21-3-1-0 record … but the Vets still hold a game-in-hand on the Firebirds.
But the loss also knocked the Vets from their #1 ranking in the PJHL.
Ethan Szabo’s 12-game point-streak ended as did the Vets 6-game win streak.
