The Navy Vets season ended on Sunday afternoon in New Hamburg with a 6-3 lost in Game#5 of their Doherty Division SF series …
The Firebirds won the series 4-1 …
The score was tied 1-1 after the 1st period but New Hamburg scored twice late in the 2nd period to take a 3-1 lead into the final period.
The Vets pressed in the 3rd period but couldn’t cut into the lead … and in the last 3 1/2 minutes the Firebirds scored 3 empty net goals to seal the outcome … although the Vets were able to score twice themselves with the extra attacker.

Tyler Bouck made 25 saves in taking the loss.
The game also marked the end to an over 50-year career for Vets trainer/equipment manager Dan Dukes !!
Thanks guys for the great season !! … and thanks Dan for all you have done for the franchise for 5 decades !!
