The Navy Vets and Wellesley Applejacks put on a great show for the Family Day crowd of close to 1200 fans on Monday afternoon.
The Navy Vets came out with a terrific 2nd period after a scoreless 1st period scoring 4 times … 3 on the powerplay … to take a 4-1 lead into the 3rd period …
But the Applejacks scored 3 times in the 3rd period to send the game into overtime and won it on a goal midway thru the extra frame.
Nolan Brett, Davin Gray, Sam Barry, and Joey Zhang scored for the Vets.
Graeme Noye made 27 saves in the loss.
The Vets record falls to 17-20-0-1 and ensures they will finish in 5th place heading into the playoffs.
They travel to New Hamburg next Friday night.
