The Navy Vets organization and their terrific fanbase would like to thank the 3 overagers whose junior hockey careers came to a close last night in New Hamburg when the Vets were eliminated in the Doherty Division Championship Series.
Ty Crombie, Mitch Penner, and Tyler Smeda were outstanding valuable members of the team this season.
All 3 brought winning experience and great skills to a younger talented group … and spurred on the team to it’s best season since 2002.
Penner was an Alternate Captain who came to us this season from the 2023 PJHL Schmalz Cup Champion Wellesley Applejacks …
the rugged defenceman teamed with smooth-skating Smeda who came from the 2023 PJHL Bloomfield Division Champion Glanbrook Rangers who lost to Wellesley in the South Conference Final … they formed a great defence pairing that was arguably one of the best in the division.
Crombie was also an Alternate Captain and also joined us from that Glanbrook team … his tenacious tough play was a terrific complement to an already talented offensive group of forwards and made him an instant fan favorite.
Thank you so much Ty, Mitch, and Tyler from the entire Vets family … and best of luck in your future endeavours !!!
