Ethan Szabo scored twice in the 3rd period including one into the empty net as the Vets beat the Tavistock Braves 4-2 at Southwood Arena on Friday night.
After a scoreless 1st period each team scored twice in the middle frame to send the game into the final period tied 2-2.
Eric Tuori and Jacob McMullen scored for the Vets.
Tyler Bouck made 30 saves in his Vets debut to record the win.
The Vets remain in 5th place 5 points back of Norwich despite the win because of the Merchants 4-3 victory over visiting Paris on Friday night as well.
The Vets travel to Paris on Saturday night for a match with the Mounties.
