Nolan Burnside scored his 1st goal as a Navy Vet and added 2 assists to help lead them to a 5-3 victory over Wellesley Applejacks at Southwood Arena tonight.
Nolan Brett scored the winner on the powerplay, his division-leading 19th of the season, late in the 2nd period and also chipped in 3 assists.
Brett was also playing in his 100th career game for the Vets.
Ethan Szabo extended his point-streak to 12 games with an insurance goal midway thru the final period.
Davin Gray added to his division-leading point total when he scored the opening goal for the Vets just 5 minutes into the game … he also had an assist on Brett’s winner.
Tyler Smeda had the other Vets goal.
Scott Rodrigue made 26 saves in recording his 7th win of the season.
The Vets remain on top of the Doherty Division with a 21-2-1-0 record and a 6-point lead over New Hamburg but with a game-in-hand.
They travel down the road on Sunday afternoon for the 5th game of the season in the “Battle of Hwy 59” series having won all 4 previous matches against the Norwich Merchants.
