Waking Up with the Vets – Oct 09

The Vets opened up their weekend home stand last night against the visiting Burford Bulldogs. After picking up 3 of 4 points last weekend, the Vets were hoping to get the weekend off to a good start against the 0 – 2 Bulldogs.

Graeme Noye was tapped for the start tonight after putting in a good performance in Norwich last weekend. The 19 year old was stellar once again as he shut out the Bulldogs and provided the guys in front of him time to find their legs.

Speaking of those in front, the Vets were not themselves early on but once they found their game they were able to carry the play. Caden Bower opened the scoring after making a tidy move around Bulldogs tender Shendon Smith at 8:42 in the first. Coming out of the first intermission up one, the Vets we’re able to extend their lead to 3 by the end of the second frame. Bower added his second of the game while Drew Mullett netted his first of the young season. The third was more of the same as the Vets found the cage three more times before the day end of the game winning 6 – 0. Mack Easter and Christian Pelley notched their firsts with the Navy Vets while Baker also beat Smith.

At the end of the day, when the lights went out the Vets got what they came to get by adding two more points to their early season tally but they will need to take things to another level tonight if they want the same result against the visiting Applejacks.
