Vets sweep weekend with big OT win in Wellesley !!

Waking up with the Vets – Nov 17

The Navy Vets entered action this weekend looking for revenge against Hespeler after a loss last weekend against the Shamrocks. The Vets started quickly with 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game … Liam Munro opening the scoring under 2 minutes in and Christian Pelley adding another just before the 5 minute mark. The game remained that way until early in the 3rd period when Pelley notched his 2nd of the game. The Vets added 3 more before the halfway point of the final period … Ben Feijo, Pelley with his 3rd of the game, and Drew Mullett making it 6-0. The Shamrocks broke Keaghan Brett’s shutout bid with just over 6 minutes left to make the final 6-1. Brett got the victory for his 50th career win! Kyle Baker added to his division scoring lead with 2 assists while Patrick Klazer and Caden Bower also had 2 assists.

On Saturday night the Vets headed to Wellesley for a showdown with the Applejacks who lead the Doherty Division. After a scoreless 1st period the Vets jumped out to a lead on a goal by Griffin Sinden under a minute into the middle frame. Just over 6 minutes later the Jacks tied the game. It remained that way with the game needing overtime to decide it. And 4 minutes into the extra period Baker scored on a pass from Mack Easter with his 2nd assist of the game to give the Vets the big victory. Brett was in the net again and made 33 saves for the win.
