Waking up with the Vets – Oct.02

It was an emotional night in Norwich last night who threw one heck of a party for their home opener. The pre and post game entertainment ensured that when the puck dropped, the Norwich faithful (and some travellers from Woodstock) were ready to go.

The game got off to a slow start for the Vets when Travis Lamb put the Merchants on the board just 3 minutes into the game, followed by another just 8 seconds later by forward Jack Gee to make it 2 – 0 early. The early hole didn’t take the Vets long to climb out of as Patrick Klazer notched his first as a vet with a bullet from the top of the circle on the powerplay. The two teams traded the next two tellies before Kyle Baker evened the score with just 5 seconds to play in the first.

From there, it was all Vets. The team scored the next 7 goals of the game.

At the end of the day it was a very solid team effort. Graeme Noye settled in well, stopping 21 of 24. Jonah Jacksteit was named the first star of the game as he registered a hat-trick in his first junior game. Griffin Sinden had a great game as well with 2 goals and 2 assists as the second star of the game. The third star went to Caden Bower who was solid all night and scored a beautiful goal in the second period.

Play of the Night:

Here is your Vets Play of the Night powered by East Side Marios here in Woodstock.
This goal was scored on the powerplay with 5 seconds remaining in the 1st period last night. As you can see, Kyle Baker finished off a beauty of a passing play from Caden Bower and Christian Pelley to tie the game heading into the intermission.
