The Navy Vets exploded for 5 goals in the 2nd period but had to struggle to get the 6-4 win over Hespeler at Southwood on Friday night on Minor Hockey Night …
After Hespeler had taken a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period, Nolan Brett scored a “Michigan goal” to even the score and opened the flood gates.
Chris Coulter ripped one from the slot just 14 seconds later to give the Vets the lead … but just 2 minutes later the Shamrocks tied the score again.
Thomas Guidolin tipped a shot from Logan Pace-Roth to give the Vets the lead again and then Lucas Balanca extended the lead to 4-2 just 50 seconds later.
But once again Hespeler scored to make it a 1-goal game once again.
Connor Stanley broke in alone after blocking a shot at his own blueline and deked the Hespeler goalie to score a highlight shorthanded goal that proved to be the game winner.
In the 3rd period Charley Barnes scored on a nice 3-way passing play to round out the scoring for the Vets.
Tyler Bouck made 31 saves for his 14th win of the season.
