Vets lose heartbreaker !!

The Tavistock Braves held off a late push by the Navy Vets for a 4-3 victory at Southwood on Wednesday night to win the 2026 Doherty Division Championship in 7 games …

the Braves held a 2-0 lead after the 1st period … the Vets bounced back with 2 goals of their own in the 2nd period by Cooper Vickerman and Will McGregor …
however the Braves scored a last second powerplay goal at the end of the period to take a 3-2 lead into the 3rd period …
then the Braves made it 4-2 with just over 6 minutes left but Carson Littlejohn continued his hot playoffs scoring a goal with just over 2 minutes left to make the game close again …
the Vets pulled goalie Tyler Bouck for the extra attacker and pushed hard for the tying goal but couldn’t net the equalizer before time ran out …

Vickerman also had an assist to finish as the division leading scorer in the playoffs with 14 goals and 14 assists …
Bouck made 20 saves in the loss …

the game was the final junior game for 5 Vets – Owen Ireton, Charley Barnes, Brodie Kearns, Tyler Bouck, and captain Jordan Thomson …
it was a terrific season by the Navy Vets and they had this city buzzing again …
