In a good battle at Nor-Del Arena the Navy Vets lost 5-3 to the Merchants in Norwich on Friday night …
The Vets led 1-0 after the 1st period, trailed 3-2 after 2 periods, and then after the Vets tied the game early in the 3rd period the Merchants scored a powerplay goal at the midway point of the period and added an empty net goal to seal the victory.
Rhylan Warford, Logan Pace-Roth, and Brodie Kearns scored for the Vets.
Tyler Bouck made 27 saves in taking just his 3rd loss of the season.
The Vets still sit in 3rd place with a 12-6-0-1 record … 6 points back of New Hamburg and 5 points back of Norwich but with a game in hand on each … with Wellesley just 1 point behind the Vets but with a game in hand.
The Vets host Tavistock Braves at Southwood on Saturday night for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
The Vets have lost both games to the Braves so far this season.
