The Navy Vets lost 4-3 in OT in Tavistock on Saturday night.
The Navy Vets were down 2-0 after the 1st period and then 3-0 just over 1 minute into the 2nd period.
But Owen Lukings with his 3rd goal of the weekend, Nolan Brett with his 21st goal of the season, and Mitch Penner tied the game before the 2nd period ended.
After a scoreless 3rd period the teams went to overtime where the Braves won it on a goal with just 1 1/2 minutes left in the extra frame.
The Vets still gained a much needed point to remain in 1st place in the Doherty Division standings following a win by New Hamburg in Paris.
The Vets have a record of 24-4-0-3 for 51 points while the Firebirds are just 1 point back in 2nd place on a 24-7-0-2 and 50 points … but the Vets also have 2 games-in-hand on the Firebirds.
Tyler Bouck was terrific in the Vets net despite the loss making 50 saves.
