The Navy Vets came off of their biggest offensive game of the season on Friday night to play maybe their best defensive game of the season Saturday night in Tavistock.
Patrick Klazer opened the scoring with a wrap-around goal in the 1st period to extend his point streak to 15 games.
Braeden Nelson was all over the ice for most of the game and was rewarded with a net-crashing goal in the 2nd period to give the Vets a 2-0 lead.
Tavistock captain Drew Gerth scored on a breakaway late in the 2nd to close the lead and set up a playoff-like 3rd period.
The Vets played a terrific lock-down final period and along with some key saves by Graeme Noye held on for a big 2-1 win.
The win moved the Vets to within 2 points of both Wellesley and Tavistock with a game-in-hand on the Braves.
