Vets battle Birds’ hard !!

The Navy Vets battled the 1st place New Hamburg Firebirds tough at Southwood Arena on Saturday night but ultimately fell 5-4.
Brendan Sullivan and Jake Ertel gave the Vets an early 2-0 lead 8 minutes into the game but division scoring leader Cole Stannix scored twice to tie the game before the end of the 1st period.
The 2nd period went back and forth with the Firebirds outscoring the Vets 3-2 in the period to take the 5-4 lead heading into the final period.
The Navy Vets came out strong and pressed throughout the 3rd period but could not get the equalizer.
Jake Ertel and Ethan Szabo each had a goal and an assist for the Vets … Brendan Sullivan and Tommy Zufelt scored the other Vets goals.
Joseph Clark made 24 saves in the loss.
The Vets once again stand in a tie with Norwich for 3rd place with identical 6-5 records.
