Davin Gray had another 4-point night against the Firebirds and Tyler Bouck made 42 saves plus stopped 4 of 5 shooters in the shootout as the Vets won 6-5 in a shootout in New Hamburg on Thursday night.
Gray scored twice and assisted on 2 others … he had a 4-goal night against the Firebirds last meeting just 19 days ago !!
Nolan Brett had 1 goal and 2 assists while Diego Sabino had 1 goal & 1 assist.
Braeden Tyler had the other regulation time goal.
Kyle Caron and Chris Coulter scored in the shootout.
The Vets trailed 1-0 after the 1st period but took a 5-4 lead into the final period after a wild wide-open 2nd period.
Gray leads the Doherty Division in scoring with 14 goals and 15 assists while Bouck leads the division with 9 wins.
The win was the Vets 4th straight and 10th in last 12 games and moves them into a 2nd place tie with the Firebirds … each with identical 12-4-0-1 records just 1 point back of 1st place Norwich.
The 2 teams will meet again Sunday night at Southwood Arena.
